Mascot for the International Softball Federation IX Jr. Women’s World Championship. A name has now been chosen, following a meeting this week of the local organizing committee.
The mascot (shown above) will be called Sonke, which means ‘together’ in Xhosa, which is one of the eleven South African languages. The name of the mascot fits in with the event theme of “Together As One.” A competition had been held within the softball community to name the mascot for the tournament, which will be played in Cape Town, South Africa, from December 6-17. Sixteen countries are expected to compete in the (age) 19-and-under fast pitch event
